Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why choose CW Doors?

For over 30 years, CW has perfected the art of craftsmanship, delivering bespoke doors crafted from the finest materials. Our solid wood doors stand apart from mass-produced options, many of which use hollow cores or veneers. Our work is built on passion, expertise, and strong client relationships, with most of our new business coming through personal referrals. We pride ourselves on being actively involved in every project, offering open communication and flexibility throughout the process. Our doors are engineered to withstand harsh weather, moisture, and extreme temperatures, and we can custom-design doors to fit unique spaces or specifications.

  • Where are CW doors made?

All of our doors are produced in our manufacturing plant located in Western New York. Our headquarters houses every step of the production process, from engineering and milling to cutting the glass, machining, and finishing the doors. We assemble and hang each door in our workshop, ensuring that all hardware is tested for flawless operation prior to delivery.

  • Who do we work with?

We collaborate with a variety of partners depending on the project. For residential work, we frequently work directly with homeowners, interior designers, or contractors. For commercial or historical projects, we typically partner with general contractors, architects, building owners, or government entities overseeing the project.

  • What is the process for ordering a CW door?

Due to the bespoke nature of our work, we provide quotes only for serious inquiries. This is an interactive process where our team collaborates closely with you to understand your requirements. The quote is based on the size, design complexity, and materials selected for your project. Once the quote is accepted and an order is placed, we begin the engineering process, followed by production after confirmation of all design elements.

  • What materials are used for CW doors?

We use only the highest-grade materials for every component of our doors—wood, glass, stains, and hardware. You can learn more about our materials and processes on our Materials, Craftsmanship & Customization page, where we provide further insights into our sourcing and quality standards.

  • How long does an order take?

Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the project and the initial stages of quote acceptance and engineering. Once the design is finalized and all necessary approvals are in place, we generally ask clients to budget approximately 6-8 weeks for production. If your project requires a specific timeline or expedited production, we encourage early communication to accommodate these needs.

  • How are doors shipped?

Due to the solid wood construction of CW doors, they are notably heavy. After assembly and hardware testing in our workshop, we carefully pack the doors in a partially disassembled manner to ensure safe shipping. Some assembly is required during installation. We generally do not ship through commercial carriers due to the risk of damage. Customers are welcome to arrange their own shipping, or we can provide shipping via our dedicated CW van for an additional fee.

  • Do you offer installation services?

While installation is not part of our core services, we prioritize open communication throughout the installation process to address any questions that may arise. Given the precision and craftsmanship of our doors, we recommend working with an experienced contractor to ensure proper installation and performance. If needed, we offer installation as an optional add-on service to ensure a seamless process from start to finish.

  • Do you offer refinishing services?

Refinishing is not part of our core offerings; however, we occasionally take on select refinishing projects based on the specifics and scope. For clients looking to maintain the beauty and craftsmanship of their CW door, we offer our custom CW stains and finishing materials for purchase, including replacement weather stripping.

If you’re interested in purchasing these materials, please email us with detailed information about your needs. If you already have a CW door, we recommend providing the original order number, so we can verify the details and update your profile for a seamless process.
